Description:

This program is tailored for pharmacy technicians and is recognized by the Ontario College of Pharmacists (OCP) for registered pharmacy technician injection training. The program also addresses the 7 competencies approved and required by The Canadian Council on Continuing Education in Pharmacy (CCCEP). 

In-Person Live Session:

This mandatory in-person live session is for the practical exam portion of the course. Your course instructor will give you the information regarding time and location of the assessment.

Online Components (4 hours):

  • Injection Training for Pharmacy Technicians Handbook 
  • Waiver of Liability Agreement

  • Reflective Exercise
  • Program Evaluation  

In-person Assessment (1 hour):  

This mandatory in-person session includes practicing injection techniques and a practical exam, where learners demonstrate intramuscular and subcutaneous injections on a partner.

Intended Audience:

  • The Injections Training Certificate Program for Pharmacy Technicians is a two-part series designed to support pharmacy technicians in the provision of injections for COVID-19 and influenza vaccines (under specific conditions). 
  • Registration for this program is restricted to Humber College pharmacy technician students. Non-students may register for the program here. 
  • Participants who achieve a letter of completion may state that they hold a continuing education certificate in the Injection Training Certificate Program for Pharmacy Technicians. This does not grant authority to administer injections as such authority is granted by legislation through each healthcare professional’s own regulatory college.
