Dr. Wasem Alsabbagh
Dr. Wasem Alsabbagh is an Associate Professor at the University of Waterloo School of Pharmacy whose research examines how socioeconomic, healthcare system, and policy factors influence medication use and health outcomes among disadvantaged populations. His work uses large population-based data sources to study healthcare inequities, medication adherence, chronic disease outcomes, opioid-related harms, and the contribution of pharmacists to improving access to care. Through his research, teaching, and collaborations, he aims to generate evidence that supports more equitable and effective healthcare for all Canadians.
Dr. Jaris Swidrovich
Dr. Jaris Swidrovich (he/they) is a queer, Two Spirit, Saulteaux and Ukrainian pharmacist from Yellow Quill First Nation. He is an Assistant Professor and Indigenous Engagement Lead at the University of Toronto’s Leslie Dan Faculty of Pharmacy, and founder and Chair of the Indigenous Pharmacy Professionals of Canada. Dr. Swidrovich also serves as Co-Scientific Director of nātawihowin, a First Nations research network. His work supports Indigenous health leadership and research across Canada. He has received several honors, including the Governor General’s Gold Medal for his PhD and the Queen Elizabeth II Platinum Jubilee Medal for service to the community.
