ColonCancerCheck Program
The Ontario government/Cancer Care Ontario’s ColonCancerCheck program recommends that people between 50 and 74 who are at average risk for colorectal cancer be screened through a Fecal Occult Blood Test (FOBT) every two years.
Community pharmacists play an important role in supporting the program by distributing kits to participants. Pharmacists may also be asked to answer patient questions about the test.
The Ontario Pharmacists Association works with both the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care and Cancer Care Ontario to ensure pharmacists are provided with the information and tools necessary for successful program implementation. We have collected the following resources to help.
