COVID-19 Testing in Pharmacies

Testing for COVID-19 was launched on September 25, 2020 in limited pharmacies across Ontario. This has been an initiative for which OPA has been advocating since April - along with administering an eventual COVID-19 vaccine, improving the flu shot initiative and other programs - all in an effort to bolster population health and safety across the province.

In preparation of the launch, OPA has developed the following training and resources for pharmacies that intend on offering COVID-19 testing:

Before making an appointment, patients are requested to complete a digital or printed patient assement provided by the participating pharmacy.

Professional Development Training Program

Pharmacies that wish to be considered for testing must take additional training as mandated by the College. OPA, in partnership with Whole Health Partners, worked very quickly to bring you the training program listed below that is free of charge to all pharmacy professionals.
