The Ontario Pharmacists Association (OPA) is committed to providing high-quality, accurate, and unbiased educational content, tools, and resources for healthcare professionals and patients. This document outlines our process for content development and our firm commitment to maintaining content integrity.

Development Process

OPA follows a rigorous process for developing all educational content and professional resources. This process involves comprehensive reviews performed by subject matter experts and/or OPAs staff to ensure accuracy, relevance, and impartiality. Typically, our content undergoes a process that involves:

Content Creation: Content is developed by OPA’s internal team or by external contributors who are selected based on their ability to meet OPA’s high standards. All contributors are chosen for their demonstrated skill and understanding of the topic. In all cases, we prioritize accuracy, relevance, and value to ensure materials produced are informative and beneficial to our members, the pharmacy community, and the public.

OPA Oversight: Our team retains full editorial autonomy throughout the development process. OPA staff conduct final quality assurance reviews to verify that all content is accurate, evidence-based, and unbiased before publication.

Transparency Measures: To ensure transparency, we disclose the names of content sponsors. We ask all authors and reviewers of educational programs to disclose any potential conflicts of interest. If conflicts of interest exist, we highlight them to the best of our knowledge. This disclosure allows our audience to understand the context and support behind our materials.

CCCEP Accredited Programs

OPA is proud to be one of the select organizations designated as a CCCEP Accredited Provider. This is a status achieved by only a few due to its rigorous requirements. This designation reflects our commitment to delivering continuing education programs that meet the highest standards of quality, relevance, and objectivity. Achieving and maintaining this accreditation involves a rigorous process, ensuring that our educational offerings meet pharmacy professionals’ learning needs, are current, balanced, objective, fair, and evidence-based; and effective in enhancing pharmacy practice.

Autonomy and Objectivity

While OPA partners with various organizations to support our mission of pharmacy advocacy, education, and practice support, we maintain strict independence in the content creation process. Sponsors and partners may provide grants to cover the costs of content development and distribution, but they do not influence the content’s message or conclusions.

Timeliness and Accuracy

All content is accurate at the time of publication. While OPA makes every effort to keep our published content up to date, we cannot guarantee that all materials reflect the most current practices or standards at all times. Readers are encouraged to refer to the publication or last-updated date provided and take that into consideration.

Professional Judgment

The educational materials and professional tools and resources developed by OPA are intended to support and enhance professional knowledge. These materials do not replace professional judgment. We strongly recommend that all healthcare professionals critically evaluate the information provided in the context of their specific practice needs and patient care scenarios.

Commitment to Continuous Improvement

OPA remains dedicated to refining our processes and maintaining the highest standards of content integrity. Through transparency, rigorous review, and independence, we aim to empower pharmacy professionals and the public with reliable, unbiased information.
