With the development of point-of-care testing (POCT) technologies, point-of-care testing has become a component of innovative patient care in various community pharmacies across the country.

POCT programs enable pharmacists to more effectively manage chronic diseases and provide insights into appropriate pharmacological treatment.

This online professional development program provides pharmacists with an overview of some of the point-of-care tests currently available in Canada, highlights the benefits of implementing these tests into practice, reviews the administration of different tests and more.

Practical information on how to overcome barriers in implementing a POCT program is also discussed to assist those interested in starting such initiatives at their pharmacy. It should be noted, however, that a pharmacists’ authority to conduct these tests may very per provincial regulations, and compliance with these regulations are not a part of the scope of this program.

Learner Assessment:

A $30 (+HST) administration and processing fee will apply. Cancellations will not be permitted once log-in to access the program material has been initiated. Program registration fees will not be refunded after the cancellation deadline.
