OVERVIEW

With the continual evolution of the pharmacy practice, pharmacy technicians play a vital role in dispensing and initiating conversations with patients on new pharmacy products and services. This program was designed to teach pharmacy technicians how to navigate new and existing pharmacy services with their manager and owner to implement business and patient care opportunities. In addition, participants will learn how to establish relationships with their patients that will ensure they return to their store more often.

Program outline

This program consists of the following online modules:

  • Module 1: maximizing your role as a pharmacy technician in the pharmacy (0.75 hr)
  • Module 2: learning about sales techniques (1 hr)
  • Final Multiple-choice Exam – improve patient’s health: suggest these not so secret services (20 questions)
  • Program Evaluation

 

Continuing Education Units:

This program is not CCCEP accredited. CEUs will not be granted.

Course Availability:

You must complete the course one day before September 30, 2020; access will be removed after this point.

Upon completion of this program, participants will be able to:

Module 1: Maximizing Your Role as a Pharmacy Technician in the Pharmacy

  • Identify the opportunities and challenges in the current pharmacy landscape
  • Review the reimbursable and uninsured services that can be offered at the pharmacy
  • Discuss how registered pharmacy technicians can lead the offering of expanded services and products through real-world case studies
  • Discuss how to propose new ideas and improve patient care to the manager / owner

Module 2: Upselling Pharmacy Services

  • Learn that selling is being of service to others
  • Suggest products and services based on seasonal needs
  • Choose the right questions to ask in order to make the best possible suggestions for that patient.
  • Help people buy what they need when they might not know what they need.
  • Learn how to practice with a colleague so you gain confidence, clarity and flow

Program Completion

To receive the letter of completion for this program, participants will be required to complete the following requirements before September 30, 2020: 

  1. Complete the program’s online modules (instructions will be emailed to you separately after registration).
  2. Complete the multiple-choice exam and achieve a score of 70 per cent or more within a maximum of two attempts.
  3. Complete the program’s evaluation.

Pre-requisites and Target Audience

There are no pre-requisites for this program. This online professional development program is developed for pharmacy technicians who would like to maximize their role and learn how they can increase pharmacy business.
