MedsCheck Refresh: Implementing the Revitalized Program

In October 2016, significant enhancements were made to the MedsCheck program. These changes focused on documentation and were intended to streamline the process and help improve the quality of the MedsCheck program.

In this online program continuing education expert Michael Boivin talks about at how to integrate the enhanced MedsCheck program into pharmacy practice, how to maximize and optimize MedsCheck to improve your patients’ health, and how pharmacists can take a more active role in diabetes management through MedsCheck for Diabetes. He also provides useful operational tips and suggestions so that both pharmacists and patients can utilize the MedsCheck program effectively.

Rethinking MedsCheck

  • Review the potential impact of the MOHLTC changes to MedsCheck
  • Explore the “new” delivery of MedsCheck
  • Determine how to maximize MedsCheck opportunities
  • Evaluate how each MedsCheck can be optimized to improve the patient’s health

Integrating MedsCheck into Your Practice

  • Review the changes to the MedsCheck Program and the new process
  • Summarize how the changes will impact the delivery of a MedsCheck
  • Discuss the documentation changes and the use of each of the forms
  • Provide tips and suggestions on how to integrate the ‘new’ MedsCheck process into pharmacy practice

MedsCheck for Diabetes

  • Review the MedsCheck for Diabetes process
  • Summarize how pharmacists can take a more active role in diabetes management
  • Discuss the new forms that must be completed for a MedsCheck for Diabetes
  • Explore the opportunity to provide patient-centered diabetes education follow-up

Program Completion

To receive the letter of completion for this program, participants will be required to complete the following requirements until August 8, 2019: 

  • Complete the program’s online modules (instructions will be emailed to you separately after registration).
  • Successfully complete the reflective exercise, within a maximum of two attempts.
    • Please note that it takes 5-7 business days to mark the reflective exercise.
  • Complete the program’s evaluation.

Pre-requisites and Target Audience

There are no pre-requisites for this program. This program is designed for pharmacy professionals who are interested in gaining a better understanding of the enhancements made to the MedsCheck program and how to practically implement them into their practice.
