Pharmacist Awareness Week (PAW) 2007 took place March 5 to 11 and was an opportunity to celebrate the profession, pharmacists’ evolving role in the healthcare system, their collaboration with other providers, and their role as advocates for quality healthcare.
Each year, the Ontario Pharmacists’ Association (OPA) holds a high-profile public event to mark PAW. This year, OPA hosted a Seniors Wellness Fair and Safe Meds for Seniors Seminar Series on March 8 in association with the world-renowned Villa Colombo long-term care facility in Toronto. The event was well attended by multilingual seniors, their families and caregivers and members of the general public from across the GTA.
The event comprised of 25 exhibits in the Wellness Fair, a continuous series of Safe Meds for Seniors presentations by pharmacists in a variety of heritage languages, pharmacists’ medication management counseling services for seniors and a variety of interactive health tests. The event also featured a noon-hour ceremony with to mark Pharmacist Awareness Week.
OPA would also like to thank all who participated in Pharmacist Awareness Week.
