About OPA The Ontario Pharmacists'
Association (OPA) advocates for the profession of pharmacy
and for the quality care and well being of the people of Canada's
largest province.
Pharmacists are experts in medication and disease management. We are dedicated to advancing patient care and improving medication use in Ontario. The OPA is working to support the expanding role of the pharmacist to improve the health of all Ontarians. We provide a wide range of professional services and education programs for our members and work closely with government and other health care providers.
OPA is a voluntary organization with over six thousand members. The Association was founded in the mid-sixties but has deep roots in Ontario, dating back to the early 1900's. OPA members practice in community pharmacies, hospitals, industry and long term care facilities and also include educators, researchers and students.
To negotiate with the Government on behalf of Ontario Pharmacy
To be recognized as the leader/spokesperson for Pharmacy in Ontario.
To establish and maintain a constructive dialogue with other groups and agencies for the discussion and resolution of any matter concerning professional and economic activities of the members.
To enhance the academic, scientific and professional aspects of pharmacy in Ontario, and to provide the leadership necessary to continually improve the quality of life, the economic well-being and professional image of the pharmacist
To encourage and promote improvement in public health through the effective us of pharmacists services to enhance the quality of life for the people of Ontario.
To develop and maintain education programs and information systems which will respond to the needs of the members
To develop and maintain communication and member benefits which may better serve interests, needs and well-being of the members.
