   CAMH-OPA Methadone Education Program

The Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) and the Ontario Pharmacists' Association (OPA) have collaborated to bring pharmacists a 1-day methadone education program.

Goals:  Educate pharmacists on the skills and guidelines for safe management of opiate-dependent patients receiving methadone and to provide a basic understanding of methadone use in pain management.


Content:


   Overview and Fundamentals of Methadone Maintenance
   Educate pharmacists on the provision of pharmacy services to methadone     maintained clients and chronic pain patients receiving methadone
   Methadone Prescribing and Dispensing Issues
   Methadone for Pain Management
   Counselling Methadone Clients
   Case Studies and Discussion

Pending approval, this Program will fulfill the training and education requirements of the Ontario College of Pharmacists Policy for Methadone Dispensing.

Continuing education units will be provided upon completion of the Program.

Cost:  OPA Member $350.00 + $21.00 (GST) = $371.00
Non-OPA Member $450.00 + $27.00 (GST) = $477.00

Future dates and locations will be dependent upon participant demand.
